I hope everyone had a good time while I've been gone! As promised, I have a lot of exciting news to share with you now that I am back from my Winter Vacation. First up, Red String is back from break! Yay! That's the obvious stuff out of the way.

Announcement #1
RED STRING OMNIBUS. Yep, I will be doing a new collection for the Red String series, collecting them into awesome 600+ page omnibus books with a bunch of extras. The first book will collect Volumes 1-3 and the second will collect Volumes 4-6. When the series comes to a close I will collect the last of the series into a final omnibus, but fear not! Those who want to finish up their original collection will be able to obtain a Volume 8 at the same time Omni#3 is released.

To fund this project I will be holding a kickstarter in the next month. The kickstarter will be selling the first two omnibus books and you will have the opportunity to get some awesome goodies along with the books.

Announcement #2
GINA IS PREGNANT. Wow! We just found out upon our return from visiting the in-laws. The new baby will be due around the same time as Lucinda was, August-September. This means lots of things for Red String. The obvious being updates might slow down around here by one update a week for a while. I'm experiencing the serious morning sickness again, but we're trying different things this time around to try to battle it. Hopefully it will only last the first trimester this time around. I am aiming to finish up Red String before the baby is born. I absolutely would hate to have to go on a maternity leave again literally right before the end of the story. So, I'm going to try to stay on track for accomplishing that goal (and having the new series up and running as well).

Announcement #3
LOVE IS IN THE BLOOD. Due to the pregnancy I will have to step down from being the artist at Love is in the Blood. It's unfortunate because it's a cool series, but I have to be realistic about my workload now. Greg will be getting a new artist to take my place asap and I do hope you will continue reading the series.

Been working on lots of comic projects lately. I'm currently illustrating three webcomic series (Red String, Love is in the Blood, and Riding Hood - NSFW) on a weekly basis and also it's my turn to illustrate the next Erstwhile fairytale, Snow White & Rose Red. So, it's been super busy times!

I've also released a couple new books in the past few months. There's the all-ages Erstwhile hardcover graphic novel and Little Red Threads v.1 which collects naughty Red String side stories into one book. A little naughty and nice just in time for the holiday season!

I haven't gotten to go out to the movie theater pretty much this last year, but I am going to make a point of going to see The Hobbit... and maybe Lincoln (though that might wait for Netflix). The Hobbit for sure. Been rewatching Sherlock and it's getting me all excited! I had wanted to see Cloud Atlas, but that's going to be a at home watch unfortunately. It's just tough to get out with the baby these days. Got to pick and choose carefully!

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since my last journal entry. Things have been super busy around here since the Erstwhile fairytale books arrived back from the printer. We are working on getting all of the kickstarter orders completed (650+ of them). Also, it's been a lot of work to keep up with the comic work while doing the Erstwhile orders and, you know, taking care of the baby! We're past half-way on filling orders, so once that's done I should have more work to share here on DA again.

I'm going to be appearing at the Chibi-Pa Convention in Deerfield Beach, FL this November 16-18. I'm a featured guest and will have a table in the Dealer's Room! I'll have all my books and merchandise with me.

DRAGON*CON
We're going to be at Dragon*Con in Atlanta, GA this August 31st - September 3rd (this weekend). You'll be able to find us in the Comics & Pop Artist Alley. It'll be me, the hubby, and little Lucinda who will have just passed her first birthday!

We'll have all the usual goodies as well as Red String Vol.6 & 7, Riding Hood, and some other little new treats! Be sure to stop by our booth and buy something! Saying hello is also nice.


GUEST STRIPS for Red String
I'm going to Dragon*Con and will be able to get enough Red String comics done to cover me up until I leave for the convention, but none to cover me the following week. I'll be on the road and the family (me, plus baby and hubby) will need a little down time to recover from the convention. It's better to have a rested comic artist than a haggard one producing crappy work, right?

Details:
I do prefer guest strips, but an illustration is also acceptable. If the illustration can tell a story all on its own, even better! Try to keep it "in character" even if it is a crazy space adventure or slash-pairing. Works should be kept at a PG13 rating. Anything racier than that should be submitted in discreet envelopes for naughty eyes only. XD

Anyone can send in their guest strips, though I will only be able to post five. SO, what I will do is post my five favorites up on the site and post the rest in the fan art gallery upon my return from the convention.

Deadline is September 1st.

Hi everyone! I have a new (well, new as a webcomic... a few of the stories were print-only years back) webcomic series, ERSTWHILE. It adapts the lesser-known Grimm's fairy tales into comics. Right now we have The Farmer's Clever Daughter, A Tale with a Riddle, and Maid Maleen up on the site. I hope you will check it out!

As most of you know, I had my baby in August so things have been very slow art-wise. I am back to updating Red String with two comic pages a week, but hope to get more accomplished as the months roll by. Right now I am still on maternity leave for commissions. I just don't have the extra time to take on extra work right now. Maybe sometime next year I will take on commissions again. I dunno at the moment.

The day has come... or came and went two weeks ago actually (haha). I had the baby two weeks ago, August 22, 2011. Her name is Lucinda and she is happy and healthy. I'm currently on maternity leave for the next month or so while we all adapt to the new addition to the family. Until that time, there probably won't be any new art posted here. However, there's a GREAT lineup of guest art being posted at my webcomic site, Red String. Don't miss it!

In theory, I will be attending Anime Weekend Atlanta at the end of September if all goes as planned. Baby's first convention. Also, will be at TsubasaCon in October if all continues to go as planned. Hope to see you there and sell lots of stuff to you! Little Miss Lucinda and I will appreciate the sales! ^_^

So, as most of you all know by now, this artist is pregnant. I'm in the final stretch (eight months) and my due/guess date is August 21st. That means Otakon should theoretically be my last convention before I'm carrying around a bouncing baby girl in my arms. If the baby is "late" then I could very well still be huge at DragonCon. Who knows? Only nature. Anyway, once the baby is born, it might get a bit slow around here for a while. However, I will try to keep everyone update as much as possible.
