LOVE NOT FOUND FANART CONTEST

Let's have some fun this holiday season with a Fanart contest! (Don't worry! We'll be having another sort of contest for those who don't draw soon!)

THEME

The winter holiday celebrated in the future world of Love Not Found is Jolly. One of the traditions of Jolly-tide include big, family-style stew feasts with friends and/or family. And sometimes couples and date-mates exchanging holly wreath crowns. Draw your favorite Love Not Found couple celebrating this holiday! You can do something with the two traditions above or celebrating the winter holiday in another way.

RULES

  • Submit an original piece of art following the Theme by January 15, 2017 to gina@strawberrycomics.com with the subject: JOLLYTIDE CONTEST.
  • Please include your name (pseudonyms okay) and, if applicable, the URL you would like linked with your submission.
  • The maximum file size of each Submission must not exceed 2 MB.
  • Each Submission must be attached to the email and provided in one of the following formats: jpg, png.
  • Please keep submissions at a PG-13 rating or below.
  • You may submit multiple submissions, but you may only win once.

PRIZES

There will be three winners selected from qualifying submissions. Prize package includes a Love Not Found print edition hand-signed by the artist, a bookmark, bookplate, and a super cute sticker sheet! Winner can choose to receive a Love Not Found lunchbox in exchange for the print edition book.

DISCLAIMER

By participating in the Contest, Entrant grants Strawberry Comics the royalty-free, worldwide right to publish and display their Submissions online for the purposes of this Contest, including, without the limitation, the right to publish the Submissions on web sites such as youtube.com, facebook.com, twitter.com, instagram.com, tumblr.com, deviantart.com, StrawberryComics.com, and LoveNotFound.com. The "Love Not Found, volume 1" kickstarter campaign is now live! The book will be in full color and collect the first seven chapters of the series! It will also contain over twenty pages of bonus content including author notes about the series, concept art of the world and several characters, floor plans of the character's homes, and a whole bunch of completed illustrations and poster designs!

The campaign has a whole bunch of fun and unique backer rewards! Some of them are very limited so you'll have to grab them quick! Thanks everyone!

I'm moving with my family to Portland, OR at the end of August and we would like to clear out some inventory before the big day. Doing so will not only put a little extra travel cash in our pockets, but also lighten our load. You know, each Erstwhile book is a pound, so every book we sell is a pound less we have to lug with us. Same goes for the Red String omnibus books we have on hand. We have almost a literal ton of books to bring... unless you give them a good shelf to call home.

Red String Omnibus books and Erstwhile Fairy Tale books are available at HALF PRICE!

I'm going to be making an appearance in Raleigh, NC next weekend (May 22-24) at ANIMAZMENT! I'll have all my usual books, plus some cool shotglasses, tshirts, and buttons. Also with me will be a few Love Not Found posters and a mini comic of chapter one. I hope you'll stop by the booth and say hi (and maybe pick up some cool swag).
If you are looking to get some of my Red String books at a SUPER SALE price, go check out my online store. All of my merchandise listed at Amazon is on crazy sale prices in order to help clear out (hopefully) all of the remaining stock. Amazon’s store costs WAY too much money to run each month (they raised their prices a few months back) so it is costing me $40 each month rather than making. I need to get this stuff gone, so I am selling it for the cheapest Amazon will allow me to sell it without going into the negative.

Red String single volumes 1-5 - $4.99 each.
Red String single volumes 6-7 - $5.49 each.

Red String Omnibus books - $9.99 (**cheaper than it cost me to print and only a few copies available) *SOLD OUT*

Thank you everyone who lent a hand and ordered a commission! My commissions are now closed, but I hope to open them up again next month.

Be sure to check out my new comic, Love Not Found.

Hello everyone. As you may have heard, I had to have surgery this month (this past week actually). I had multiple dermoid ovarian cysts (two of which were 10 cm each). They had to take them out and my right ovary as well. I’m finally on a much lower dosage of pain meds now and starting to be able to get back to work without a lot of pain.

Even with insurance it cost WAY more than expected. Financially, I am in a rough situation at the moment. I need to make about $700 to cover what I had to spend out of pocket so I can feed the family this month.

I need help, so I am opening up commissions right now. My commission info below is listed below. If you would like to add an “extra tip” to my quoted price when you get your completed commission I am totally okay with that. I also have a patreon account, and can straight up take donations via paypal.

The time has finally come and Love Not Found has begun. I've really worked hard in the past couple months to make this comic the best it can be and am so very excited to finally be able to share it with all of you.

I'm starting you off with a whole ten pages this week (start reading here). Soak 'em in and enjoy. Then next week the series kicks into high gear with updates THREE TIMES A WEEK, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays! Be sure to bookmark the site and be ready.

I create and self-publish webcomics. Over the last ten years my main project was Red String, which was both published by Dark Horse Comics and then self-published later on. My current projects are Demon Aid and Erstwhile Fairy Tales. I am also preparing to launch a new comic series, Love Not Found, which is a futuristic space romance. On top of all this I illustrate erotic comics for the female centric, female creator site, Filthy Figments (nsfw). I am also a mom of two very young children (2 1/2 years and 6 months). My husband is my tech guy for all of my creative endeavors.

In order to give away the comics for free I depend on other sources of revenue (banner ads, books and merchandise sales, commission work, etc). These things can fluctuate month to month, so there are some months where things are really tight.

The great thing about the web is it is always coming up with new ways to help creative people. Patreon is a new way you can support my work. It's sort of like a TIP JAR. If you enjoy my works you can give a little something as a way of saying "Thanks for what you do. Please keep doing it." You can use both Credit Cards and Paypal to do this.

In return, on top of the comics I will continue to produce for free no matter what, there are other things you will get by becoming my patron. You can get access to my private sketchbook blog that has concept art, character sketches, doodles, works-in-progress, and things that may or may not ever make it to the general public. There's a preview of my upcoming comic series, Love Not Found. Cameos in my comics are up for grabs, and a whole lot more!

---------------
REMINDER:
I will be at a couple conventions coming up, but not many because of the kids. I'll be at Zenkaikon in April and MomoCon in May. Might be at DragonCon, but that is still up in the air... I really hope I can be there this year.

There's been a whole lot going on for me in the past year. I've been working on comics, having a new baby boy (who is seven months now while the first is two and a half), running a kickstarter for Erstwhile (book is now at the printer), and all that wonderful stuff. Since Red String ending, I have started a comic called Demon Aid and am preparing to launch a new comic, Love Not Found.

I have created a Where To Buy Guide for all of my books in case you are interested in that sort of thing. It even has my naughty FilthyFigments.com comic titles listed for THAT sort of thing.

Thank you everyone for your support and getting us to our kickstarter funding goal! Our appreciation and excitement knows no bounds! Personally, I am doing a happy dance right now! We can't wait to print this book! Having reached the goal, the book can be printed and we are including the short bonus comic, The Three Lazy Ones, in the book.

That being said, there's still 24 hours to go for our campaign. There's still time to stretch! If we get to $28k before the end, everyone who ordered a print copy of Erstwhile Vol.2 will also receive a 4" x 6" sheet of stickers. And if we hit even higher and reach $30k everyone who pledges any amount will receive a digital copy of the Erstwhile mini-Artbook. It contains a collection of completed illustrations and concept art.

For those of you who are not familiar with this project, Erstwhile is an anthology series adapting the rarer Grimm's Fairy Tales into comic form. I collaborate with two other awesome female comic artists and we each take turns illustrating a story. This is a FULL COLOR HARDCOVER book and collects six complete tales and contains the following stories; Brother & Sister, Iron Hans, Snow White & Rose Red, Death of the Little Hen, Doctor Know-It-All, and The Worn-out Dancing Shoes (aka The 12 Dancing Princesses). **We are also now including the bonus comic, The Three Lazy Ones.

I hope everyone had a good time while I've been gone! As promised, I have a lot of exciting news to share with you now that I am back from my Winter Vacation. First up, Red String is back from break! Yay! That's the obvious stuff out of the way.

Announcement #1
RED STRING OMNIBUS. Yep, I will be doing a new collection for the Red String series, collecting them into awesome 600+ page omnibus books with a bunch of extras. The first book will collect Volumes 1-3 and the second will collect Volumes 4-6. When the series comes to a close I will collect the last of the series into a final omnibus, but fear not! Those who want to finish up their original collection will be able to obtain a Volume 8 at the same time Omni#3 is released.

To fund this project I will be holding a kickstarter in the next month. The kickstarter will be selling the first two omnibus books and you will have the opportunity to get some awesome goodies along with the books.

Announcement #2
GINA IS PREGNANT. Wow! We just found out upon our return from visiting the in-laws. The new baby will be due around the same time as Lucinda was, August-September. This means lots of things for Red String. The obvious being updates might slow down around here by one update a week for a while. I'm experiencing the serious morning sickness again, but we're trying different things this time around to try to battle it. Hopefully it will only last the first trimester this time around. I am aiming to finish up Red String before the baby is born. I absolutely would hate to have to go on a maternity leave again literally right before the end of the story. So, I'm going to try to stay on track for accomplishing that goal (and having the new series up and running as well).

Announcement #3
LOVE IS IN THE BLOOD. Due to the pregnancy I will have to step down from being the artist at Love is in the Blood. It's unfortunate because it's a cool series, but I have to be realistic about my workload now. Greg will be getting a new artist to take my place asap and I do hope you will continue reading the series.
Been working on lots of comic projects lately. I'm currently illustrating three webcomic series (Red String, Love is in the Blood, and Riding Hood - NSFW) on a weekly basis and also it's my turn to illustrate the next Erstwhile fairytale, Snow White & Rose Red. So, it's been super busy times!

I've also released a couple new books in the past few months. There's the all-ages Erstwhile hardcover graphic novel and Little Red Threads v.1 which collects naughty Red String side stories into one book. A little naughty and nice just in time for the holiday season!

I haven't gotten to go out to the movie theater pretty much this last year, but I am going to make a point of going to see The Hobbit... and maybe Lincoln (though that might wait for Netflix). The Hobbit for sure. Been rewatching Sherlock and it's getting me all excited! I had wanted to see Cloud Atlas, but that's going to be a at home watch unfortunately. It's just tough to get out with the baby these days. Got to pick and choose carefully!
Hey everyone!

It's been a while since my last journal entry. Things have been super busy around here since the Erstwhile fairytale books arrived back from the printer. We are working on getting all of the kickstarter orders completed (650+ of them). Also, it's been a lot of work to keep up with the comic work while doing the Erstwhile orders and, you know, taking care of the baby! We're past half-way on filling orders, so once that's done I should have more work to share here on DA again.

I'm going to be appearing at the Chibi-Pa Convention in Deerfield Beach, FL this November 16-18. I'm a featured guest and will have a table in the Dealer's Room! I'll have all my books and merchandise with me.
DRAGON*CON
We're going to be at Dragon*Con in Atlanta, GA this August 31st - September 3rd (this weekend). You'll be able to find us in the Comics & Pop Artist Alley. It'll be me, the hubby, and little Lucinda who will have just passed her first birthday!

We'll have all the usual goodies as well as Red String Vol.6 & 7, Riding Hood, and some other little new treats! Be sure to stop by our booth and buy something! Saying hello is also nice.

GUEST STRIPS for Red String
I'm going to Dragon*Con and will be able to get enough Red String comics done to cover me up until I leave for the convention, but none to cover me the following week. I'll be on the road and the family (me, plus baby and hubby) will need a little down time to recover from the convention. It's better to have a rested comic artist than a haggard one producing crappy work, right?

Details:
I do prefer guest strips, but an illustration is also acceptable. If the illustration can tell a story all on its own, even better! Try to keep it "in character" even if it is a crazy space adventure or slash-pairing. Works should be kept at a PG13 rating. Anything racier than that should be submitted in discreet envelopes for naughty eyes only. XD

Anyone can send in their guest strips, though I will only be able to post five. SO, what I will do is post my five favorites up on the site and post the rest in the fan art gallery upon my return from the convention.

Deadline is September 1st.

Contact me via my email address: gina@strawberrycomics.com  to send any guest strips. DO NOT send me a Note on DA or I might not get it in time. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.
