You wouldn't know it from looking at my gallery, but I am a big fan of Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Mysteries book series. I am not generally a fan of vampire stories, so this series is a real treat for me. They're sexy and fun little mysteries. Also, I really like the idea that Sookie is a bit curvy (size 8-10) rather than sickly thin. That's my size range, though I'm not as well-endowed.

This is one of the few illustrations I have drawn completely in digital format. I think it turned out okay. I was referencing the descriptions and cover art from the books as a loose guideline for the character designs. Sookie looks like a well-endowed size 10 (went by my own size ten body as well as some body type guides online). I was going to give Eric longer hair, but all of the book cover illustrations have his hair shorter, so I went with that. From what I remember of Bill's description and the book covers, he looked more like a stereo-typical vampire with the slicked back, short, dark hair.

LOVE the detail in this pic. I read the first book and saw the first few episodes of the TV series, but I never caught on. It still had a bunch of fun characters though.

I wouldn't say they look much like a HBO characters... I think you did a good job with using the book covers as a source.. Sookie looks kind of how I would have pictured her, the body especially. Bill looks exactly how I would have pictured him in the books. Eric also fits the bill.
