DW - Foreign Face by strawberrygina DW - Foreign Face by strawberrygina
"My face... I haven't gotten used to it yet. It still looks so foreign to me."

This is Prompt #27 - "Foreign" in the Doctor Who 100 Theme Challenge. I saw the word and immediately started thinking about the doctor's reaction to his new self after the end of season one. We all know Rose had a hard time dealing with it, but can you imagine having to get used to looking at yourself in the mirror completely changed?

I am just obsessed with regeneration and I just love regeneration episodes. There's something very poignant and actually quite relatable to the way can't control himself changing irreversibly to survive. It's somewhat like a death of an old self but I like how this implies that he never quite leaves his old selves behind.

Well, as the 5th Doctor said to the 10th "Get a good look of these cheekbones, Doctor, cause you'll be shaving them one day":)

I kind of like it :)
But Rose looks a bit like Agatha Christie from the fourth series ;)

It was quite the shock at first, especially to Rose. For whatever reason it made him really weak and all he could do was sleep and lay in bed. I remember Rose mentioning that only one of his hearts was still beating, which only happens in times of extreme weakness or trauma. I remember how scared of loosing him she was. I think the best part of the eposide though was when Rose's mother was more concerned about making tea than the aliens coming to attack Earth. :XD: Interestingly enough, at least in the new series Rose is the only one that ever watched him regenerate and stayed with him. She loved him no matter WHAT he looked like.

Haha, kind of late to the party here, but... ahh, I wish they'd gone even more into how it felt for both the Doctor and Rose to deal with his new "face." Can you imagine if someone you loved got a completely new face, body, and voice, and a slightly different personality? I wonder if he still smells the same, or if his hands feel different now, etc. For the Doctor, do you think he has to, like, relearn what foods upset his stomach and how often he needs to shave? Must be weird to suddenly be a different height, too!

Funnily enough, this was kind of my reaction to the new Doctor. I love David Tennant, he's wonderful, but every so often I forget who he is and I go "Where's Christopher? Who's this bloke?" or "When's Christopher coming back?"

And then I realise that he isn't coming back. :(. And I go off to cry.

This is lovely, though I'm already a big fan of your work :)

I'm creeped out now xD I thought I'd seen your gallery before~ Still, I love the expressions. You reminded me that Rose changed her look when the Doctor did (cut her hair, she became a bit less chavvy in my opinion) ...hm, does this spark a fanfic? -opens word-

I agree with the majority of Whofans.. Baker was definitely one of if not THE best Doctor. (Of course he's the best IMO but I'm not everyone, now am I?) He was great.. and this is an interesting concept. Though I admit I have neglected watching the new series for fear of them ruining the whole show...

I guess he would be used to it since that's his culture but still, I wonder if just after regeneration he ever wakes up and goes to the bathroom half awake, turns on the light and gets startled when he sees the new face?

I was saying, he wasn't 9 for that long, so he probebly had only just got used to being 9 before he became 10.

Yeah.

But I do recall that the ninth didn't have too much time to worry when he first regenerated. Just popped by a mirror and made comment about his ears.

:)

Love it!

I think the hardest part for Ten was that he still wasn't a ginger yet. Poor duck! This was a really creative idea for a picture and I certainly think you captured what both of them felt in that episode.

I wonder what's going through is head . . . although it might be something along the lines of," I can't belive I'm not ginger after HOW many regenerations?!"

I miss Chris Eccleston a lot, but David Tennant's doing a pretty decent job as the Doctor (and he even got Anne from the Weakest Link to think he was sexy  )

He's was so brillant yet they replaced him so soon. *cries* I'm almost finished with the 2nd season and I like the 10th Doctor but he's just not the personality type I like for all occasions. He's definatly more personalble and openly friendly as well as openly affectionate with Rose (I think he's just showing the feelings he already had for her as 9) but as far as being full of depth and dark emotions and anti-hero, he just doesn't have it anymore. Although I wished I could have seen how Rose and the 9th Doctor's relationship worked out after the Daleks and he kissed her.
9 to me was hot in a dark, broodying, war hero sort of way, 10 is just plain hot! Which is alway good. LOL Glad he hasn't lost being brillant in a bad situation though.

P.S. I don't like the old series so don't feel bad if you don't either

P.P.S. The 5th Doctor blows

Oh, I'm sure he's used to the process, but he never knows what he's going to look like when it happens and has to sort of rediscover himself (like he did in The Parting of Ways and The Christmas Invasion). ^_^

Well, I'm not entirely certain which Doctor it was, but I know for certain it has happened :) Compared to the current series (2005-now) the effects aren't as good, but IMHO the stories are just as good, some even better :D
